Children deserve a carefree and happy childhood, regardless of their social and family situation.
Tiny Steps Daycare was founded in August 2024 and supports children in the vulnerable district of Lemara, Arusha. While the children receive quality care and support, the parents/guardians have time to work or further their education. The childcare is free of charge for the families.
In Tanzania, children are often left at home alone or under the loose supervision of neighbors due to a lack of alternative care options, or are even placed in orphanages due to financial struggles and are therefore potentially exposed to many dangers.
We want to change this and let the children discover the world through play in a safe environment – and thus strengthen the whole family!

How our Sponsorship Program works
At Tiny Steps Daycare, children are looked after up to the age of 3 1/2 years. We accept children from the age of 6 months! After that, the children transfer to an English-speaking private school, where they are first taught in pre-school and then from class 1 – 7. Sponsors are also able to continue to support “their” children throughout secondary school and university / vocational training. The children thus receive a very good education right from the start, which means that all doors are open to them later in life and they can break the cycle of poverty.
Will I receive Updates on my sponsored child?
Sponsors receive an update on their sponsored child by e-mail twice a year, in June and December. This consists of pictures and a short report on the child’s development. Later, when the students are at school, school reports are also attached to the update.
What does a sponsorship cost?
The monthly contribution for a sponsorship is 45 €
It is also possible for two or more people to share the sponsorship of a child. The contribution finances the running costs of the daycare center such as salaries, rent, electricity, water, food and diapers, thus ensuring the care of the children.
As long as the children attend Tiny Steps Daycare, 50% of the monthly sponsorship contribution is forwarded to Tiny Steps and 50% is saved in the charity’s account. When the child is ready to start pre-school, the money saved is used to pay the school fees for the first school year, as school fees in Tanzania are paid annually in advance. Once the child attends school, the monthly contribution is then used in full to cover the ongoing school fees.
